1 day, i was sittn inside a pressure cooker - stressed about responsibilities. i steppd outside the cooker, lookd back and realized i was draggn sum1 else thru the cooker w me. and watchn me go crazy was drivn them insane; and vice versa. the absurdity of it broke the tension and gave me a new song title. the #12 song n the countdown is ‘watching you go crazy is driving me insane’. i hum n my sleep (along w snoring and god knows what else). but, it's high-pitched humming - like a muted throat trumpet. i know bcuz sumtimes i wake myself up w the effort. anyway, i’d b humming away, conducting my mind's orchestra, and awaken 2 find my lady n tears of laughtr. i was happy to see her smile. Ruthie appears here, again. i was so proud of her - she pickd up this bent, bop rhythm and smashed it into a punk train. as i recall, she only needed one take and we had the drums finishd. when Melissa Mattey completed the mix i knew i would luv this tune a long time. it was its own pressure cooker. what it taught me is that life happens - despite our rules 2 manage the unpredictability. if the rules don't bend 2 accommodate the reality that leaks thru our fictions, then the rules, the rule-makers, and their followers will b broken by the drag of nature's march. so when u get hit by nature, if u don’t die, get back up, bcuz there’s another one coming up fast.
