i looked up the supposed roots of valentine's day and found decapitated saints, instruments of purification (called februa), "men beating women with animal hides..." all mashed up into a great big boon for flower shops, dimly lit restaurants, and merchants of romance. speaking of mashups, here's one of mine. it began as a calling out of misappropriation - and poor uses of stolen treasure. like selln watered-down funque. i grabbed a popular chorus - replaced "moves like Jagger" w "moves like James Brown" (bcuz, who wouldn't?). stuck it inside a Stevie classic, stretching the classic so as to hint at a blues. then i reinforced the point with a tribal, festive rhythm - what i call 'slide-n-butter' (reminds me of boxing) - and toppd it w Jimmy Nolen's guitar riff from 'Mother Popcorn'. happy valentine's day. the #24 tune from the countdown of MY favorite songs that i've recorded is 2014's 'Music Is A World Within Itself'

Just a beautiful jazzy rap album with buttery smooth flows versed with huge talent. It's not only lovely to the ears, but the lyrics are profound and empowering about the struggles that she faces. zhangtastic
